Introducing the National Redfish League (NRL)

Let me introduce you to the National Redfish League (NRL). The NRL is a non-profit 501c3 organization designed to build, grow, and maintain the sport of competitive redfishing. The NRL has been created for a specific purpose: to build an infrastructure expressly for the unification and solidarity of competitive redfish events.

The supervision, management, and operations of the NRL and its entire structure are under the direct control of its Board of Directors. This Board is tasked with designing and developing a strategic national configuration for competitive redfishing events.

A structure that is based on honesty, integrity, fair play, and professionalism in all matters. A structure with the sole purpose of building, promoting, and advancing the sport of competitive redfishing on a national level. A structure that will legitimize our sport and the industry leaders that support it.

Mission and Objectives

The NRL is committed to:

  • Establishing a centralized organizational framework for competitive redfishing.
  • Implementing standardized rules, formats, and payout structures across all events.
  • Promoting fair competition, where skill and strategy determine success.
  • Upholding the values of honesty, integrity, equality, and professionalism.

Governing and Oversight

The league is governed by a Board of Directors, responsible for strategic planning, operational oversight, and ensuring the integrity of all NRL-sanctioned events. Each division within the league will be led by a director who also serves on the board. These positions are currently to be determined.

League Structure

The NRL is organized into:

  • Four Regional Divisions:
    • Blueridge Division-TBD
    • Sunshine Division-TBD
    • Bayou Division-TBD
    • Longhorn Division-TBD

  • Two Annual Open Events:
    • Atlantic Coast Open
    • Gulf Coast Open

  • Grand Finale:
    • Redfish World Championship (RWC) – the culminating event where world champions are crowned.

Each division will host four events annually, all contributing to the NRL’s national ranking system. The Open events are designed to rotate locations each year, providing broader access and immediate qualification opportunities for the RWC.

Geographic Coverage and Growth

The league spans the entire U.S. coastline from North Carolina to Texas, offering widespread opportunities for participation. As the sport grows, the NRL is prepared to expand its structure, adding new events and personnel to ensure comprehensive national coverage.

NRL Team Of the Year Structure

The NRL Team of the Year will be determined by the team's highest finish in all 4 divisions.

NRL Divisional Champions Structure

The NRL Divisional Champions will be determined by the team's total points from all 4 tournaments in each division.
